The Internship Program with ISJ
Purpose of the
internship program
1. Internships for
post-graduate students are available at the Office of International Studies
Journal (ISJ) in Tehran. These internships are intended to:
a) increase the intern's function on publishing an article
and to be familiar with the publication of a specific quarterly at the international
level and give them an opportunity to work in an academic atmosphere; and
b) provide ISJ with the assistance and contribution of
outstanding young students or graduates.
2. The relationship
between ISJ and the intern is one of mutual benefit. Interns are assigned
to a practical and theoretical work. They are involved in: researching
international issues, (especially on human rights), providing and assisting
on the process of a production of quarterly (ISJ), assisting the editor in
chief, making the connection between ISJ and the others quarterly,
universities, and research centers.
Qualifications
required
3. Intern will be
selected from post-graduate students or holders of PhD in International
Human Rights Law, International Law, International Relations, Political
Science, History, and Social Sciences. Preference will be given to those,
within these disciplines, who have specialized in human rights issues.
Applicants must be sponsored by an academic institution and must have a
good command of English and be familiar with French. The people who are
also familiar with Persian are preferred. Drafting ability in either
English or French is required.
Internship dates and
duration
Intern will be selected
15 June and be required to work for a minimum period of three months from 1
July to 30 September.
Conditions of service
5. According to the
Islamic Republic of Iran legislation, interns must respect the Iranian
criteria for foreign people. Interns are not paid and they will work as a
volunteer in ISJ office by conducting research and practical work.
6. Interns are assigned
to work with editor-in-chief who is responsible for providing them with a
description of duties and a work plan.
7. ISJ internships are
not remunerated and interns are not considered officials or staff members
of ISJ. Travel costs and living expenses must be borne by the interns
themselves or by a sponsoring institution.
8. ISJ accepts no
responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred
during an internship. Interns must have their own health insurance. In case
of illness or other circumstances that might prevent the completion of the
internship, interns will inform editor-in-chief of ISJ.
9. There is no
expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.
10. Interns are expected
to work full-time and to carry out the duties assigned to them.

11. Applicants should

- 2 recommendation letters by their professors
or sponsoring institution.

applications are 10 June.

Research Proposal (will be published in ISJ): The Influence of Iran
adherence to WTO.

Assisting the editor-in-chief for making the connection between ISJ
and the other quarterlies, universities and research centers.
E.
Coordination of ISJ team for visiting university of Isfahan and the

Protection for Iranian combat against Drugs Trafficking.
G.
Providing a research workshop on drugs trafficking by ISJ with the
cooperation and funding of UNDOC or other affiliated institutes in Tehran
or in Vienna or in Rome. The outcome of workshop will be published by ISJ.
H.
Assisting the editor-in-chief to publish the common issue with
other universities and centers.

Coordination for visiting university of Mashahad
and UNHCR office in Mashahad.

Research Proposal (will be published in ISJ): Democracy and Human
Rights in Greater Middle East and the role of Council of Europe.
K.
Coordinating between ISJ and politique
étrangère for a common issue.
L.
Providing and consultation with international and regional
organizations or others to fund for a conference or workshop on:
Intercultural dialogue on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern integration with
EU.
M.
Assisting the editor-in-chief to run a web site for ISJ and to link
with others as same as universities, quarterlies and research centers.
N.
Coordination for a visiting to be confirmed be ISJ interns.
